How do I prepare for Climbing Kilimanjaro?

This is a question I get asked a lot. You can never tell before hand if you are going to suffer from Acute Mountain Sickness or not.

I recently visited the Altitude centre in Covent Garden and got quite an education. From what I can see these are the people who will be able to help you better than anyone. They have a number of machines that reduce the percetage of oxygen in the air. Basically they can take you up to high altitude in a matter of seconds and bring you back down again. By doing a series of sessions on this machine they can train your body to be more efficient with the oxygen you breath. This will help you out at Altitude. I have had a brief go on it and it seems to replicate altitude very well. With just one brief session I have not seen any affects but am sure that if I did the 15 day course I would notice a huge difference.
